A video surfaced on Facebook this past weekend where it appears on the impact of a wave, the bottom of the boat falls out. Causing the driver to be thrown from his boat and the entire boat falls apart simultaneously. While I did some reading, it appears that the boat was older and showed signs of dry rot. This should be a wake up call to drivers all over to inspect your boats, look for soft spots or broken wood. Small cracks can allow water to get into seams. We want everyone to be safe on the water and prior inspections could have prevented this accident. The driver escaped with bumps and bruised but got very lucky.
Please check over your boats, steering cables, throttled cables, kill switches and tie down ropes. Sometimes we have to bite the bullet and retire that old boat for some new wood, in this case that boat should’ve been thrown on the fire a while ago.
