Like many other innovators, I read my partner John’s driver profiles and loved what he was doing, but thought I could make some slight alterations. Like John Mayer and “Free Fallin” or America and Democracy, I thought I could take the model that Stock Outboard Scene had laid out and make some changes. I am officially introducing the second iteration of the driver profiles. The 2.0 version will be asking the hard hitting questions that previous reporters were scared to ask. We will be leaving no stone unturned as we try to capture the essence of these drivers and get some insight into who they REALLY are. Who is a better candidate to begin this journey with than D3?
Driver Profile 2.0:
What is your name?
Donald Christopher Allen
How long have you been racing?
I started racing hydroplanes in 1996, but I was racing winter sleds, big wheels and bikes long before that.
How many ping pong balls could you fit into a Boeing 747?
18 million
Do you prefer racing hydroplanes or runabouts?
Hydroplanes, but I’m willing to look like an idiot in any kind of boat.
Best Black Eyed Peas album to listen to pre-race?
Album, I have no idea. Song, “My Humps”
Best race course?
Top O. Short course: Oshkosh
Favorite Dylan Runne quality?
His attention to detail when styling his hair.
Who is your racing hero?
There are way too many to limit to 1, but if I had to, lately I’d have to say you and John Wlodarski (or how ever you spell his crazy name). I’m serious, not only are the two of you winning, but you are going to as many races as possible and giving back to sport in ways no one else ever has.
-sec(x^2) + cos(4x) dx ?
x^(2)\cos (4x)
Favorite class?
Science
Is a hot dog a sandwich?
No, but you can’t beat a Lafayette Coney Island hot dog from Downtown Detroit.
Goals for 2020?
To win, and make sure this new born baby we are going to have goes to as many races as possible. Thanks for making the social media announcement for us. Baby Reveal: It’s a Girl.
Would you rather fight 1 horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?
1 Horse Sized duck, the power in number of 100 mini horses would be too much.
