Waking up on October 30th with a fresh coat of snow covering the front lawn was truly alarming, to say the least. The combination of the snow on the ground, Alfred Hogg III's end of the season wrap up and Donny Allen sharing his Christmas music playlist on Spotify, it had finally dawned on me that the 2019 racing season was over. A sad time for many, I knew that the long months of winter were getting ever so close and began thinking of ways to fill the gaping hole in my life from the lack of racing. Because this is such a common problem amongst the racing community, I thought it would be a good community service to share some of my tried and true methods of wintering as a boat racer.
1. Staring endlessly out a window while contemplating all your life choices
One of my absolute favorites. You can burn upwards of 14-16 hours a day by longingly staring out a window pane. A week full of staring out the window will make Jesup just that much closer!
2. Learn to play an instrument
I'm not even going to discuss this option, because I know none of us will do it.
3. Go through all of your racing pal's profile pictures
Truly endless content with potentially some really cool throwback racing pictures sprinkled in. If you get to the point where you are all the way back in photos from 2008, maybe step outside or read a book. Or something.
4. Try modeling
Hire a local photographer and head down to the most scenic part of your town and start working the camera. A nice stoic look like Dylan Runne's is a good place to start.
5. Catching up on all of the things you put off to go racing
Just kidding, I would never.
