First off, I would like to sincerely apologize to all of the fans for the slight sabbatical that the power rankings took. Between Thanksgiving week and finals for Johnny Adams and myself, the power rankings were on the back burner for a while but they are officially back and stronger than ever for your holiday season! This week's ASH rankings have proven to be one of the most difficult to rank yet. With so many strong drivers and a plethora of rigs all with the same speed capability, it is hard to predict who will win a regular weekend race, let alone who will be ranked #1 in the most prestigious rankings in all of racing.
Fan Rankings-
With the help of an anonymous master programmer, the scoring system for the fans have changed. For every ballot cast, the first place vote recipient will receive 10 points, the 2nd place finisher will score 9 points, all the way to the 10th place vote receiver scoring 1 point for that ballot. The results are as followed.
Congratulations to all of the top 10 drivers!
Northwest Correspondent Johnny Adam's Rankings-
1.Nate Mitchell: Consistently fast at the last few national championships and a second place finish in national highpoints it shows that Nate is poised to win a national title in 2020. 2.Jay Fox: With a nationals win in 2019 and a top five finish in 2017, Jay is fast where it counts, and that is back east. The Springfield nationals seems like the perfect territory for Jay to make it back to back championship seasons.
3.Cole Olson: The Olson family is fast in the A classes. Whether it is A stock, AX or J they are fast. Cole has the experience in the boat and the class to make a challenge at the top three in Springfield, Ohio.
4.Josh Toccalino: A second place finish at 2019 Wakefield nationals along with a national high point means that this A stock is ready to make another run in 2020.
5.Ryder Rabitoy: I am biased on this one, as Ryder is a member of the Adams clan out west, but he is an impeccable driver. Inside lanes and perfectly timed starts seem to turn into national championships more times than an insanely fast prop. Hes fast enough to get to the first turn and hold off the best.
6.Abby Pond: Another Fast family that is consistently in the mix, Abby will be looking for another top finish this summer in the high points ranking.
7.Kierra Marquard: One of the fastest A stocks on the west coast, Kierra also has the experience at big time races. Traveling across the country to race multiple times in her racing career bodes well for her at Springfield.
8.Erin Pittman: This family is very very fast in the A classes. A fourth place finish in Wakefield last summer means that Erin’s ASH is running just right.
9.Laura Wheeler: Finishing seventh in high points and seventh in Wakefield is a strong overall season. Traveling from Wakefield to Springfield means that much of the same competition will be there. This means that Laura should be able to improve her positioning in the finals.
10.Michael Shepard: A top five finish in the high points rankings and a top five finish in the 2018 nationals shows that Michael can battle with the best of them.
Mikey Pavlick's ASH Rankings
1. Josh Toccalino: Realistically, Josh and Nate are so close in my eyes, the answer can't be wrong either way. The reason I am giving Josh the edge is that he has the chip on his shoulder from a few second place finishes in 2019. I see Josh as a very competitive driver who will do all he can to avenge his 2nd at Nationals and in National High Points.
2. Nate Mitchell: Who will stop Nate's stranglehold of outboards that go 55-65 MPH??
3. Erin Pittman: A comeback season for the record books in 2019 that included a National Championship in AXH along with near misses in ASH and 200CCMH has Erin poised to be fighting for the ASH title in Springfield, OH.
4. Abby Pond: The multi-time ASH National High Points Champion should be a staple on any ASH list. I've heard rumors that Gary has been finding props by the bucket at local garage sales.
5. Jay Fox: The 2019 ASH National Champion and fellow Brinkman's Propeller Marine frequenter would be #1 if I was positive he would be racing a full schedule in 2020
6. Michael Shepard: The 46-V can never be counted out of an ASH race and he appears to only be getting faster.
7. Kierra Marquard: A strong 2019 performance has Kierra ready to bring home the title in 2020. She will be #1 in the power rankings when she switches over to the Pavlick ASH that Trey has been using.
8. Rachel Warnock: The dominant force in the expanding Northeast ASH field is more than capable of doing some damage.
9. Cole Olson: Cole would be much higher on our list if he hadn't been dedicating all his racing effort into beating Wlodarski in 15SSH in 2020. The ironic part being that Wlodarski has been putting all his effort into racing ASH against Olson in 2020. Sort of like a modern day Gift of the Magi for all of the early 20th century literature aficionado Throttled listeners
10. Kelsey Bennett: Number 2 in my ASR rankings, Kelsey is ready to show Dave how to drive a hydroplane.
Honorable mentions:
Jared Pavlick: The 325-V is always a threat in whatever class he wants to get into.
Laura Wheeler: A strong end of the season performance made Laura interchangeable with just about anybody on the top 10 list.
John Peeters: I'm just hoping that the 245,932,763 time straightaway record holder will have room on the trailer for the ASH.
Finally, don't forget that the 2nd annual Throttled awards show is this Thursday at 8 Eastern! See who will bring home the Scoopomaniac of the year amongst dozens of other prestigious awards!
