As many of you have likely noticed, I was not able to join the Throttled live podcast Thursday January 16th and as Johnny may or may not have mentioned, I will stepping away from the show for a while. I thought it would be wrong to not share the backstory with all of our dedicated fans and let them behind the curtain a little bit. Even though it is our private life, we have been so fortunate to be welcomed into your lives, complete transparency is the only appropriate course of action. I will be as honest as possible documenting the creative differences that led to fights, shunning, turning friends against each other and even a physical altercation.
It all started when our manager Jim Sobol dropped us as his clients. Jim cited having more important Stock Outboard podcast hosts to represent and even said that our shtick had run it's course. Without Jim, it began more and more troubling to see the clear vision. We no longer had our compass and didn't have his guiding presence.
The next part of our splintering working relationship was when we began working independently more often. We started writing blogs without consulting the other person, we began doing solo shows and trying to make our own name outside of the Throttled brand. When the show was conceived, every single thing that the Throttled brand did, was calculated and discussed at nauseam between John and I. As our fame continued to grow and grow to superstardom levels, it became harder and harder to contain our egos. We both knew that we were within the top 10 stock outboard podcast hosts in the game and saw a path to become the best of our generation. This lack of collaboration was one of the biggest factors in this fractured working relationship.
The final straw was when John started mixing work and pleasure. He started bringing his girlfriend to the recording studio which put a huge strain on the team. Lots of animosity came bubbling up when it became a clear issue, Throttled vs John's girlfriend. We tried to be as inclusive as possible, but it became a real issue when she tried to take over creative control of the show. This was something that John and I had built and she wanted to be the third member of the show and control the content and our overall vision.
The combination of all these factors eventually led to me leaving the show altogether. It was a fantastic experience to be apart of that I will always look back on fondly .I appreciate all of the great times that we had together as a group and all of the fantastic content that we created. With that said, I would like to officially say goodbye to all the fans and supporters and sincerely thank everyone for listening.
With a heavy heart,
Mikey Pavlick
P.S.- I'm totally kidding. I completely stole that story from how the Beatles broke up. I just have a class during show time :)
